. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, maintain high standards of hygiene and presentation, and support senior chefs in delivering authentic and high-quality Japanese dishes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and cooking of Japanese dishes such as sushi, sashimi, ramen, tempura, and other traditional menu items.
Ensure all food is prepared according to SLRP's recipes, presentation standards, and food safety guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation in compliance with HACCP and food hygiene standards.
Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating kitchen stock and ingredients properly.
Support senior chefs in daily kitchen operations, mise en place, and service.
Ensure consistent portioning and quality control during preparation and plating.
Contribute to menu innovation by suggesting new ideas or improvements in Japanese dishes.
Follow safety and sanitation procedures and report any equipment issues promptly.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum
1-2 years of experience
as a Commis Chef, preferably in a Japanese or Asian cuisine restaurant.
Basic knowledge of Japanese culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts or equivalent training is preferred.
Strong attention to detail, discipline, and willingness to learn.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and flexible with shifts.
