The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in delivering high-quality Japanese dishes under the guidance of the Sous Chef and Head Chef. This role focuses on food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and learning authentic Japanese culinary techniques in a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing ingredients and mise en place for Japanese dishes including sushi, ramen, tempura, and teppanyaki.
Support chefs in cooking and plating dishes to ensure consistency and quality.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations.
Follow recipes, portion control, and Japanese culinary techniques accurately.
Assist in inventory management and proper storage of ingredients.
Comply with HACCP, food safety, and hygiene standards.
Learn and develop skills under the supervision of senior chefs.
Required Skills & Experience:
Basic knowledge of Japanese cuisine (sushi, teppanyaki, etc.) is preferred.
Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills in a professional Japanese kitchen.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow instructions accurately.
Good teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
Commitment to maintaining high hygiene and kitchen standards.
