Job Summary:
The Waiter / Captain is responsible for providing excellent customer service, ensuring a smooth dining experience, and supervising the service staff (if in a captain role). Duties include taking orders, serving food and beverages, handling customer requests, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service:
- Greet guests warmly and escort them to their tables.
- Present menus, explain dishes, and provide recommendations.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen/bar.
- Ensure timely and professional service with attention to guest preferences.
- Handle guest complaints politely and escalate issues if necessary.
- Serve food and drinks correctly, following restaurant standards.
- Check order accuracy before serving.
- Assist in setting up tables with cutlery, glassware, and napkins.
- Ensure proper food presentation and temperature before serving.
- Train and guide junior waitstaff.
- Assign tables and oversee service flow.
- Coordinate between kitchen, bar, and service staff for smooth operations.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
- Present bills, process payments, and return change promptly.
- Clear tables and reset them for the next guests.
- Assist in closing duties like stock checks and side-work completion.
