Wood is recruiting for a Technical Delivery Director to join its team focusing on providing technical delivery support within the Operations MEA service line. Defining and guiding the growth, development and delivery performance and working in parallel with the heads of functions (technical) within the region supporting the overall development of the EMEA technical strategy, to deliver best practices and consistency of practice throughout.
This position can be based either in Dubai or Abu Dhabi on a residential basis.

The Role
As a key member of the MEA Leadership Team, will provide guidance and direction to technical management and delivery support teams in day-to-day management of technical delivery, ensuring appropriate governance and controls are in place and ensuring Wood is working to the highest possible standards of technical integrity.
The role will provide a consistent technical reporting line back to the MEA SVP and produce solutions to complex service line strategic technical / operational challenges which impact our customer service and performance, in doing so improving the flow of lessons learned between services lines within EMEA. The role is instrumental in coordinating / driving technical innovation, improvement and learning in MEA team.
The role also acts as a technical authority for the MEA business and works closely with the Technical Delivery Directors for each of the service lines and the EMEA Technical Director.
The role will work closely with the other functions within MEA \xe2\x80\x93 particularly Project Controls, Supply Chain, Quality, and Risk Management.

Typical responsibilities
Play an active role as part of the Technical Directorate Forum with continuous stakeholder engagement with Technical Director EMEA, Services lines Technical Delivery Directors, Head of Functions \xe2\x80\x93 EMEA, HVEC Interface Manager, and Head of Technical Training & Development
Provide a consistent approach within the MEA service line, through visible technical leadership and support of the Project / Contract / Engineering Managers involved in the MEA service delivery, ensuring strong individual and team motivation and productivity
Provide a single technical focal point within MEA, to distil, introduce, and share best practice across Wood Solutions to other MEA engineering delivery centres (such as but not limited to, Abu Dhabi and the GCC region)
Support the EMEA Technical Director in delivering improvement actions and piloting / verifying solutions and ensuring they are embedded in the MEA service line
Support in the strategic decision-making / hands-on support associated with positioning / tendering for Operations BU (Brownfield Modifications / O&M)
Provide a single point of contact within MEA to traffic technical support requirements within the Project Controls, Supply Chain, and Risk function to ensure consistent strategic delivery strategies are in place
Support the Heads of Function (EMEA) in establishing and implementing policies to ensure appropriate governance mechanisms for continuous monitoring of their proper implementation
Tracks risks and opportunities via registers and mitigation of current or emerging technical risks across the MEA service line
Support and steer the functions to ensure technical innovation, improvement and learning in MEA is drawing upon best practice across all the service lines within EMEA
Support the Heads of Function (EMEA) in ensuring and overseeing compliance with the Wood technical processes and procedures in all aspects of the business
Ensure all projects comply with corporate Project Reporting requirements and arrange all project monthly reviews
Coordinates Technical input (Engineering, Construction and Project Management) for tenders

Expected:
Engineering Degree
A thorough understanding of strategic and change management with the ability to translate this into appropriate goals, methodologies, and strategies for implementation
Fully conversant with the life cycle of projects from Conceptual through to O&M and the business support stakeholders / how these interfaces operate effectively
Minimum 15 years in a related role in Brownfield Oil & Gas or minerals processing
Minimum 10 years in a Senior Engineering/ Technical Management roles
Experience acting as a Technical Authority and ability to act as a technical writer and PEER reviewer
Ability to write and present Technical Business Cases
Demonstrated experience in contract start-ups and delivery of technical execution plans
Proven ability to build and lead a team of technical people, actively supporting, encouraging, and engaging those reporting to the position
Desirable:
Management Degree (preferred)
Middle East / International experience (preferred)
