Job Description

Synopsis
Promote a strong ethics & compliance culture by developing and deploying an effective ethics and compliance programme and compliance management system. Specifically, bear overall responsibility for the Code of Business Conduct and compliance therewith as well as for the export control, anti-corruption/anti-bribery, sanctions and data privacy programmes. Oversee the global implementation of a robust data protection compliance programme.
Accountabilities
  • Strategy – Plan, structure and implement Etihad’s ethics & compliance and global privacy programme in line with globally accepted standards such as the US Federal Sentencing Guidelines for Organisations, ISO 37301, and similar standards. Develop and execute global privacy strategy for Etihad.
  • Policies and Procedures – Define and implement group compliance policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, data protection laws, and Etihad’s policies. Advise executive management on compliance policy and privacy related matters consulting legal or external counsel where needed.
  • People development – direct, manage, the ethics & compliance function to ensure that is has clear objectives, is appropriately staffed, and is suitably skilled and experienced.
  • Compliance risk management – Provide the Board’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and executive management with regular visibility of compliance and privacy risks affecting the business and data subjects, and provide advice regarding mitigating actions. Maintain appropriate relationships and act as Etihad’s point of contact with key regulators and data protection authorities on ethics & compliance issues.
  • Training and communications – direct the team to identify and deliver appropriate compliance and ethics, and privacy training and communications and awareness programmes for employees to help mitigate risk.
  • Measurement and Monitoring – monitor Etihad’s internal culture of integrity and the compliance programmes for effectiveness. Set appropriate performance measures and report these regularly to executive management and the Audit Committee. Secretary to the Ethics & Compliance Board.
  • Allegations and investigations – coordinate and oversee confidential employee reporting and investigations processes. Oversee and coordinate the personal data breach response procedure.
Education & Experience
  • At least 10 years’ management experience including in compliance, auditing, risk, or a related discipline
  • University degree. Preferably in law, but other fields will be considered depending on experience
  • Relevant Ethics & Compliance certification such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Information Privacy Professional etc. preferred.
