Electrical Engineer (street Lighting)

Job Description

Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, supervising, and executing electrical works related to road construction projects, street lighting networks, electrical infrastructure, LV/MV installations, and associated utility works. The role requires strong technical knowledge, site experience, and adherence to project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution * Review project drawings, specifications, and scope of work for electrical systems related to road and street lighting projects.

  • Prepare technical submittals, method statements, shop drawings, and material requisitions.
  • Plan site activities, manpower allocation, and daily execution of electrical works.
  • Coordinate with Project Manager,Civil Engineers, and other site teams to ensure timely progress. Electrical Installation & Supervision
  • Oversee installation of street lighting poles, feeder pillars, LV/MV cables, earthing and grounding systems, control panels, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure proper installation and testing of electrical components in compliance with municipal and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, pre-commissioning tests, and final commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Verify that all electrical works comply with DEWA/ADWEA/SEWA/AMEC or relevant authority standards.
Technical Documentation & Compliance * Prepare progress reports, site measurements, and as-built drawings.
  • Maintain documentation for material approvals, load schedules, lighting calculations, and cable sizing.
  • Ensure compliance with local authority standards, QHSE policies, and project quality plans. Coordination & Communication
  • Liaise with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve technical issues.
  • Support procurement with technical evaluation of materials and vendor proposals.
  • Attend coordination meetings and provide technical input when required.
  • Safety & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all electrical works meet safety regulations and project quality standards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks,risk assessments, and enforce safety procedures for electrical teams on site.
  • Report and rectify any electrical hazards or non-conformities.
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering /Diploma in Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction/ contracting environment with a focus on road works and street lighting projects.
  • Strong knowledge of LV/MV systems, electrical infrastructure, street lighting networks, and cable laying activities.
  • Familiarity with UAE municipality standards, utility authorities, and road project specifications.
  • Experience with lighting design software such as Dialux (preferred).
  • Proficiency in Auto CAD,MS Office, and project documentation.
  • Valid UAE Driving License is a must.
