Specialty Coffee Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years working in specialty coffee establishments, demonstrating a strong foundation in coffee preparation, brewing techniques, and customer service.
SCA Certification: Completion of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Coffee Skills Program, including Professional-level certifications in Barista Skills, Brewing, and Sensory Skills.
Advanced Coffee Knowledge: Proficiency in espresso extraction, milk texturing, latte art, and brewing methods. Ability to evaluate coffee quality using SCA standards and tools.
Leadership and Management: Experience in managing bar operations, including staff training, inventory control, and ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
Oversee daily bar activities, including coffee preparation, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
o Ensure adherence to specialty coffee standards and best practices.
o Develop and implement efficient workflows to optimize service speed and quality.
o Recruit, train, and mentor baristas and other cafe staff.
o Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages growth and collaboration.
o Review staff shifts to ensure proper coverage and smooth operations.
o Maintain high standards of customer service, ensuring guests feel welcomed and valued.
o Address customer feedback promptly and professionally.
o Manage stock levels for coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies.
o Monitor costs and minimize waste through effective inventory control.
o Coordinate with suppliers for timely replenishment and sourcing of high-quality products.
o Conduct regular quality checks on coffee preparation and presentation.
o Stay updated on specialty coffee trends and integrate them into the menu and operations.
o Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
o Analyse sales performance and identify areas for improvement.
o Collaborate with the marketing team to execute promotional campaigns.
o Propose ideas for new menu items or seasonal offerings.
Qualifications
Proven experience in specialty coffee or cafe management (minimum 3 years preferred).
In-depth knowledge of specialty coffee, including brewing techniques and equipment.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in POS systems and basic financial management.
