Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Quality, Patient Safety and Risk, the Analyst, Clinical Intelligence provides technical and analytics expertise for quality and operations reporting, including but not limited to extraction, interpretation, visualization and presentation of data to support hospital key performance indicators, regulatory reporting, and clinical decision support. The analyst requires frequent direct interaction with a variety of clinical customers in the development of reporting solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manages complex datasets by identifying, aggregating, cleaning and validating data from multiple sources in preparation for reporting use.
  • Implements various visualization techniques to assist users in identifying critical data quickly and accurately.
  • Participates in the development of data models.
  • Uses analytical techniques to design, develop and maintain reports, scorecards and dashboards, summarizing clinical, quality and operations data, for review by executives, quality leadership, clinical staff and other stakeholders.
  • Provides in-depth analysis and develops routine reporting of performance and quality indicators to improve patient care and clinical outcomes.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and manages queries as regulatory reporting standards change, or as other opportunities for refinement occur.
  • Creates or reviews technical design documentation to ensure the accurate development of reporting solutions.
  • Documents specifications for reports, dashboards, or other outputs.
  • Manages timely flow of clinical intelligence and analytics to end users.
  • Evaluates the information flow and data collection methods for continuous process improvement.
  • Uses SQL to develop complex queries from electronic medical record.
  • Knowledge of Cerner Command Language (CCL)
  • Supports system-wide quality improvement efforts through collaboration with multi-disciplinary audiences, from executives to front line staff.
  • Works with clinical and operational staff to develop and maintain performance measurement processes (database development, benchmarking, KPI development, systems documentation, and reporting/dashboard deployment).
  • Interacts frequently with leadership and quality personnel to facilitate discussions of existing data products while assessing unmet analytic needs and potential enhancements.
  • Initiative to work independently (self-direction) and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develops subject matter expertise around business/clinical operations and their relation to performance measurements.
  • Maintains knowledge of key operational data systems and organizational workflows.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Contributes towards a culture of continuous improvement resulting in enhanced coordination of work activities and improved efficiency.
  • Timely completion of the yearly Performance Management Review cycles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to a variety of audiences throughout the organization.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to effectively summarize data, present insights and facilitate discussion of results.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems and/or Business Administration or other related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience with data analysis and report generation within the healthcare sector.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience using database programming language for report development.
  • Extensive experience with database programming language (CCL/SQL).
  • Strong knowledge of statistics and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Able to accurately apply data to clinical issues
  • Able to manage multiple projects and processes at the same time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience collaborating with clinical quality teams and/or process improvement activities.
