Lead, direct, and supervise a team of steel fixers and laborers.
Read and interpret complex structural drawings, schematics, and bar bending schedules to plan daily work activities for the crew.
Allocate tasks, manage crew productivity, and ensure efficient use of time and materials.
Train and mentor crew members on proper techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
Manage crew timesheets and coordinate with the project manager on staffing needs.
Ensure all rebar is cut, bent, and installed in strict compliance with the project's structural drawings, specifications, and relevant codes (e.g., ACI 318, BS 8666).
Perform detailed inspections of rebar prior to concrete pours, checking for:
Correct bar size, grade, and type.
Accurate placement, spacing, and alignment.
Proper lap lengths and splices.
Correct installation of chairs, spacers, and supports to maintain concrete cover.
Liaise with the general foreman, QC engineers, and the client's representatives for pre-pour inspections and sign-offs.
Identify and resolve any discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions in coordination with the project manager and structural engineer.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Steel Fixer Foreman on major high-rise concrete construction
Minimum 10+ years in a foreman role.
