Job purpose
Plan and support of the implementation of occupational health practices, programs and services. To support in assessing and monitoring employee’s health in order to prevent injuries and occupational diseases and to promote physical, mental, social and occupational wellness in all Downstream assets under the Head of Occupational Health: through (1) Planning & implementation of medical examinations to asses employee’s fitness to work; (2) development and implementation of occupational health programs to follow up employees health condition; (3) Plan & monitor health surveillance for employees at different assets of downstream; (4) Supervise & manage downstream OQ clinics.
The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities
  • Develop annual and monthly periodic medical examination plan and communicate it to the employees.
  • Follow up the scheduling for medical examinations carried out by the clinics.
  • Set and follow up indicators and compliance with medical examinations.
  • Develop annual plan and follow up the implementation of Hearing Protection Program: medical surveillance for abnormal results, training and hearing protection fit tests.
  • Develop annual plan and follow up the implementation of Benzene Control Program: medical surveillance for abnormal results, referral to specialist and individual training.
  • Develop annual plan and follow up the implementation of Radiation Control Program: medical surveillance for abnormal results, referral to specialist and individual training.
  • Define annual plan and follow up the implementation of Illegal Drugs & Alcohol Prevention Program: testing, awareness, indicators.
  • Define standard and flow and follow up the implementation of travel medicine.
  • Define standard and flow and follow up the implementation of Contractor’s medical examination.
  • Carry out safety food inspections in the canteens, camp, and workplaces.
  • Carry out welfare health and hygiene inspection and audit in the workplaces and camps.
  • Define and implement annual plan for health campaigns.
  • Monitor the victims of accidents referred to hospital by OQ clinics and provide updates regarding their health condition.
  • Define standard and flow and follow up the implementation of first aid resources in the plant.
  • Manage and ensure availability of materials, consumables, equipment and devices at all downstream OQ clinics.
  • Conduct inspections in the clinic facilities to verify the compliance with MOH guidelines and OQ standards, set and implement action plan for the identified non-conformities.
  • Control the medical instruments and equipment, following up its calibration and maintenance needs, keeping appropriated records;
  • Define standard and flow and follow up the implementation of medical records management: filing and recovering of medical files, retention time, preservation, storage and distribution, confidentiality;
  • Elaborate and review occupational health standards and procedures.
  • Provide inputs into budget preparations and follow up its implementation.
  • Define, implement and follow up occupational health indicators and KPI.
  • Participate in internal or external audits related to the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Develop training material for occupational health related subjects;
  • Check, record, organize, file and recovery occupational health technical documents and data;
  • Manage and oversee occupational health services contracts;
  • Support the implementation of occupational health related corporate projects and standards.


Key interactions
Internal: With different department up to supervisor level, to coordinate and obtain necessary work permits to operate OH equipment & to conduct OH hazards monitoring.
External: Health Authority and other relevant external organizations

Notable Working Conditions. Field operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing plus Occupational Health Nursing certification or Occupational Health and Safety certification

Language requirements
Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) | Arabic - Native (desirable)

Competencies and skills

Bachelor

Grade 5
5-8 years of relevant experience

Grade 6
8+ years of relevant experience

Both:
  • Knowledge in Occupational Health;
  • Advance knowledge in Emergency Medical Services.
  • Advance knowledge in occupational health programs (Respiratory Protection Program, Hearing Protection Program, Benzene & Radiation Surveillance Program, Travel Medicine Program, Illegal Drugs & Alcohol Prevention Program, Mental Health Promotion Program, Welfare Inspections, Health Campaigns);
  • Knowledge in occupational health-related compliance requirements, standards and regulations;
  • Knowledge in In-house Clinic Management (license, accreditation, medical records administration, supplies availability, etc.);
  • Advance knowledge in Emergency Medical Services and Work-related Injuries and Illnesses Management;
  • Strong ability in development, managing and implementation of examinations plan.
  • Willing and enthusiastic about the opportunity to share expertise with others.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office® Package, desirable knowledge in MS web applications.
