Job Overview

The
Senior Payroll Specialist
is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for a large, diverse workforce, including staff, site workers, and subcontractors. This role requires coordination with HR, accounts, and site administration teams, ensuring compliance with
UAE Labor Law

WPS (Wage Protection System)
, and company policies.
What will you do?
1. Payroll Processing
Oversee end-to-end monthly payroll processing for
5,000+
employees (white- and blue-collar).
Validate timesheets, attendance data, overtime, leave balances, and deductions from ERP.
Process payroll following
WPS regulations
, ensuring compliance and punctuality.
2. Payroll Auditing & Compliance
Conduct pre- and post-payroll audits to ensure accuracy.
Ensure
gratuity
,
EOSB
,
final settlements
,
leave encashments
, and
deductions
are calculated and disbursed correctly.
Prepare monthly
WPS files
, liaise with banks and exchange houses to ensure disbursement.
3. Coordination & Documentation
Coordinate with HR, site timekeepers, and accounts for updates on joiners, leavers, promotions, and salary changes.
Maintain and update payroll documentation, approvals, and monthly reports.
Respond to employee queries related to salary, deductions, or pay slips.
4. Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and submit payroll summary reports, variance analysis, and cost center breakdowns.
Assist finance in payroll reconciliation and audits (internal & external).
Maintain historical payroll records and ensure data confidentiality.
5. System & Process Improvement
Work with ERP/HRMS vendors to troubleshoot payroll system issues.
Suggest and implement improvements in payroll procedures for accuracy and efficiency.
Train junior staff on payroll policies and systems.
Qualifications & Skills:Education:
Bachelor's degree in
Accounting, Finance
, or
Business Administration

Payroll certifications
(e.g., CIPP, CMA, or UAE-specific training) are advantageous.
Experience:
5-8 years of payroll experience, preferably in the
construction or contracting industry
in the UAE.
Strong understanding of
UAE Labor Law

WPS
, and
gratuity calculations
.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in
ERP systems
.
Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, formulas, reconciliations).
Familiar with
WPS SIF file formats
and Ministry of Labour platforms.

Strong communication and analytical skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Excellent coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
