Job Description

An Operations Executive in construction and civil engineering is responsible for overseeing all project activities from start to finish, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Key duties include developing operational strategies, managing project lifecycles, coordinating with stakeholders, monitoring performance metrics, and implementing quality and safety controls. They are also responsible for financial oversight, risk management, and driving innovation through new technologies and sustainable methods.

Key responsibilities

Strategic and operational planning:

Develop and implement operational strategies to meet business objectives and oversee the entire project lifecycle, from pre-construction to completion.

Project management:

Manage and coordinate all aspects of construction projects, including budgets, schedules, and resources, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.

Stakeholder and vendor coordination:

Act as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, and liaise with vendors for materials and services.

Financial oversight:

Prepare and analyze operational and financial reports, manage budgets, and ensure financial health throughout the project.

Quality and safety:

Implement and enforce quality control measures and safety protocols to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Risk management:

Identify and mitigate operational risks, create contingency plans, and troubleshoot problems to minimize disruptions.

Team leadership:

Recruit, train, and supervise staff, providing technical support and leadership to project teams and ensuring effective communication.

Innovation and compliance:

Drive innovation by promoting new technologies and sustainable building methods and ensure all projects comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Required skills and qualifications

Proven work experience in a similar role, such as Operations Manager or Construction Manager, with a strong understanding of the construction industry. A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field is often required. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Expertise in operational management systems, budgeting, and financial analysis. Experience with project management software and a solid understanding of civil engineering principles is beneficial.
