A Senior mechanical engineer is required who will be responsible for design outputs from a multi-disciplinary MEP design team and responsible for Mechanical design on a number of projects. As a senior member of the team, it is expected that a Senior Mechanical engineer shall take responsibility for ensuring that all design work is produced on time and in accordance with the project quality requirements.

• Degree qualified - minimum requirement of BEng
• More than 5 years experience working in the design of civil-mechanical projects.
• Experience of mechanical design software - Computer design package E-20, IES Design Suite, Amtech etc.
• Understanding of British, American and International design standards
• Good level of computer literacy in Windows and other Microsoft products - an understanding of BIM and CAD is beneficial
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
• Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a proactive way
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential
• Ability to manage the workload of a team of engineers/technicians and BIM/CAD staff

Responsibilities

• Technical lead of MEP teams, from concept design through to construction issue and site supervision
• Set standards for mechanical design
• Ensure that all design teams follow the required standards
• Lead and supervise design of mechanical services
• Supervise and manage the preparation of design calculations
• Supervise design according to local rules, regulations and design guides
• Supervise design to British, American and/or International design standards as required by the project
• Preparing technical specifications and reports
• Attend meetings
• Supervise engineers and CAD operators in all project related matters
• Responsible for QA and the checking of all design work carried out prior to formal issue
• Coordinate with Architects, Structural Engineers and other MEP disciplines
• Supervision of site surveys and inspections
• Ensure full coordination between the MEP elements of the design team, throughout the design process
• Ensure full coordination between the MEP design team and other disciplines including architectural, civil and structura
