Job Description

Responsibilities & Duties Undertake Mechanical design and consultancy work including systems design, production, specifications and schedules; provide reports and advice to Clients. Liaise with other design team members internal and external, represent the business at meetings. Ensure application and maintenance of all Quality System procedures.

• Conduct site visits, prepare estimates for various minor to major MEP works and projects including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, FAFF etc. by reading layouts and documents
• Submitting tenders

Manage projects including organization of junior staff and project delivery to time and cost requirements. Achieve a detailed understanding of the Contract documents (drawings and specifications), phasing plans, MEP systems interrelationships, construction sequencing and project schedule. Assesses project requirements, breaks projects into tasks, and works with Project Managers to determine scope of work while overseeing budget and assigned staffing. Writes scopes of work for mechanical designs (HVAC) based on preliminary review and client requirements. Coordinates the writing of Plumbing, Fire Protection and Electrical scopes of work for based on preliminary review and client requirements. Technically competent engineer with excellent communication and time management skills. Good team ethic approach and the ability to financially control and project manage. Prepares engineering studies and schematic design for new HVAC systems and analyzes the operation of existing systems. Coordinates the preparation of Plumbing, Fire Protection and Electrical studies and schematic design for new systems and the analysis of the operation of existing systems. Works with code officials and other design professionals when an interpretation or exception to building codes is required. Facilitate problem solving, as may arise, between MEP Subcontractors during construction. Validate design issues related to MEP and suggest alternative solutions. Assist in the receipt and review of MEP submittals. Coordinate / liaise with the authorities (Dewa-water & drainage, Etisalat and EHS) for expediting NOC / building completion inspection. Log and post all MEP changes and as-built information on field drawings. Assist the MEP department head in the scope review, budgeting and justification of MEP change work order. Assist in the installation of MEP work as the need arises Monitor and control the activities of MEP Subcontractor. Coordination and administration of MEP related materials, systems and shop drawings submittals. Liaison with Consultant MEP supervisory Engineers, Inspectors and relevant staff. Ensure that MEP Subcontractors provides and adheres to relevant Quality documentation/records. Ensure that MEP Subcontractors adheres to Project safety regulations. Assist in the testing and commissioning of MEP equipment Reports all project MEP issues to MEP department head Working Experience & Skills & Qualifications BEng (Hons) degree in Building Services Engineering/Mechanical Engineer high level of technical and scientific knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to practical problems good oral communication skills and confidence in dealing with a range of people, including clients, contractors, designers, directors and plant operators precise and concise written communication skills the ability to work well within a team the ability to work under pressure organizational skills, such as time and resource planning.
