Job Purposes

Responsible for master specifications review and update, creation of master technical specifications, equipment & systems components\' material selection, preparation of general requirements.

Have good understanding and background in geotechnical engineering works (on shore and off shore site investigations, geophysical survey, piling works, slope stability, shoring systems, soil improvement, marine engineering and construction works, etc) and in pavement material and construction works (flexible and rigid pavement, airfield pavement, Superpave asphalt binder and asphalt mix specifications, performance testing on asphalt concrete, aggregate base and subbase materials, earthworks, etc)

Job Responsibilities for Senior Geotechnical/Pavement Specification Writer

• Develop master specifications including compliance with international standard requirements, LEED\'s administrative and sustainable product requirements and considering local country regulations.
• Research, recommend and specify products based on a deep understanding of local construction materials and technology.
• Write technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties, utilizing knowledge of material standards, construction processes, and execution procedures and including acceptance criteria considering international requirements.
• Make material selections to ensure that the specified requirements are appropriate to the regional conditions.
• Maintain and regularly update construction product and standard database by conducting product research as to determine quality and availability of materials within the region.
• Review/study of construction materials for determining suitability with principal regard to function, environmental exposure, and international standard/code requirements and/or considering local authority requirements.
• Work with project teams to develop documents and mentor staff on technical issues for both project and specification related issues.

Job Requirements for Senior Geotechnical/Pavement Specification Writer

• Must have Specification Writing
• Degree from a well-recognised university in Civil Engineering, specialised mainly in Geotechnical and Pavement related programs.
• 15+ years specification writing experience, with at least 5 of those spent in the UAE using NBS or European equivalent formats.
• Previous specification writing experience with a large Architectural/Engineering firm, preferably in the MENA region, is very desirable.
• Excellent working knowledge of geotechnical and pavement construction materials and construction technology.
• Good working knowledge of current contract law as it applies to construction.
• Good computer skills with MS Office software suite.
• Registered member of a relevant professional body (CSI, EN/BSI, TRB, AASHTO, ASTM, etc.).
• High proficiency in English language.
