Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Foreman/Foreman to lead our pipe and structural fabrication, welding, and pre-commissioning teams. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader responsible for ensuring that all fabrication and welding activities are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. You will be the critical link between management and the shop floor, driving productivity and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of fabricators, fitters, welders, and technicians.
  • Assign daily tasks, manage work schedules, and monitor team performance.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure clear communication of project goals and safety briefings.
2. Production Planning & Execution:
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and fabrication specs.
  • Plan and sequence fabrication and welding activities to meet project milestones.
  • Allocate resources effectively, including manpower, equipment, and materials.
  • Monitor progress against schedules and report on production status to management.
3. Quality Assurance & Control:
  • Ensure all work complies with project specifications, codes, and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, API).
  • Implement and enforce quality control procedures throughout the fabrication process.
  • Coordinate with QC/QA inspectors for material verification, dimensional checks, and NDT (RT, UT, MPI, etc.).
  • Ensure proper documentation of all quality records (WPS, PQR, welder certifications, ITPs).
4. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
  • Champion a zero-incident safety culture. Enforce all company and site-specific HSE policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments (JSA/TRA).
  • Ensure all team members use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Investigate and report any incidents or near-misses promptly.
5. Technical Expertise:
  • Oversee the fabrication, fitting, and welding of complex pipe spools and structural steel assemblies.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team on fabrication techniques, welding procedures, and problem-solving.
  • Manage the pipe pre-commissioning process, including cleaning, hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, and nitrogen purging.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to fit-up, welding, distortion control, and dimensional accuracy.
6. Administrative Duties:
  • Complete daily timekeeping, progress reports, and manpower reports.
  • Manage material requisitions and tooling requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, inspections, and tests.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
  • Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or a related field. Equivalent Vocational Certification (e.g., NVQ/SVQ Level 3) in Fabrication/Welding is also acceptable.
  • Experience:
  • For Senior Foreman: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a Lead position within pipe and structural fabrication.
  • For Foreman: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a similar supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proven, hands-on experience in pipe fabrication (CS, SS, AS) and structural steel fabrication.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW) and their applications.
  • Solid understanding of pipe pre-commissioning activities (hydro-test, chemical cleaning, etc.).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings.
Highly Desirable:
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI/CWE) or similar certification.
  • Formal training in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
  • Experience with project management software and MS Office Suite.
