The Position

The Control System Senior Programmer would be a valued member of a proactive, agile and highly effective team working to deliver outstanding results on an international platform. This person is responsible for designing, engineering and testing automation & control systems. His/her job is to make sure these critical systems and processes designed, engineered and fabricated effectively, efficiently and safely.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • To be the Specialist for Control System software & hardware, infrastructure and networks
  • Designing, developing and testing of control systems
  • Troubleshooting and modifying brownfield systems
  • Work collaboratively with design engineers, engineering lead and other internal staff
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are required
  • Development of design drawings, control schematics, wiring distribution schemes, HMI and PLC systems, etc.
  • Design and implement technically compliant cybersecurity solutions in line with IEC 62443
  • Writing test procedure, programming for PLC, SCADA and RTU
  • Testing (FAT, SAT) and commissioning for PLC, SCADA and RTU
  • Work in a multinational, multicultural team environment spread across 4 countries, Canada, UAE, England and Pakistan.
  • Complies to and promotes the standards and procedures of the Drakken Health and Safety manual and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Education Required:
  • Degree or diploma, engineering related
Experience Required:
  • Emerson GE PACSystem or Emerson GE Fanuc Rx3i minimum 5 years experience
  • SCADA such as Simplicity and Movicon
  • 5 years' experience in the Control System a minimum
  • Ability to understand PFD, P&IDs, and C&Es
  • Hands-on experience in network infrastructure & hardware configuration
  • Experience in configuring and testing communication protocols Modbus, Profibus, Field bus, FF and Profi-net
  • OEM training certificates are a plus
  • Experience in modifying existing brownfield control system
  • Understanding of plant site instrumentation, control systems, control valves, and communications.
  • Experience in interface engineering with Electrical, Instrumentation and 3rd part process packages
Skills Required:
  • Working knowledge of NEC and IEC Standards and International Codes.
  • Distributed control systems (DCS)
  • Programmable logic controllers (PLC)
  • Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
  • Good understanding of technologies being used in Oil & Gas (onshore & offshore), Utility projects
  • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software, and other Company and discipline specific software applications
