Job Overview
As a School Counselor, you will be responsible for organizing and delivering academic, personal, and career guidance to students, helping them thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. You will also work closely with teachers, parents, and school leadership to create an inclusive and supportive environment where students feel heard, safe, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities

• Provide academic, social, emotional, and psychological counseling services to students
• Support students in their transition into the school and during critical educational phases
• Develop proactive systems and programs to promote student well-being and reduce issues such as bullying
• Maintain confidential student records and track progress, concerns, achievements, and behavioral patterns
• Liaise with parents and faculty regarding behavioral concerns, academic performance, and emotional needs
• Establish procedures for identifying students requiring additional support or external intervention
• Collaborate with the senior management team to introduce initiatives that foster leadership, cooperation, and life skills
• Organize career guidance activities and promote student responsibility and resilience
• Ensure school policies and codes of conduct are followed in line with GEMS values
• Attend meetings, support school events, and contribute to the wider school community
• Take initiative and show dedication beyond regular working hours when needed

Job Requirements
Education:

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Counseling, Psychology, Education, or Social Work (mandatory)

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of school-based or related counseling experience
• Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting preferred

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
• High level of empathy, discretion, and confidentiality
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
• Well-organized, proactive, and able to manage time and priorities
• Experience in managing student behavioral concerns and delivering social-emotional learning (SEL) programs is a plus
