Key Duties and Responsibilities of a Restaurant Manager
1. Staff Management
Hire, train, and supervise staff (servers, cooks, bartenders, etc.)
Schedule shifts
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback
Ensure compliance with labor laws and workplace safety
Implement disciplinary actions and performance development
2. Customer Service
Ensure a high standard of customer satisfaction
Handle customer complaints and resolve issues efficiently
Monitor customer feedback and reviews to improve service
3. Financial Management
Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
Monitor expenses and profitability
Control food, beverage, and labor costs
Manage cash handling, POS systems, and bank deposits
Manage delivery payments, online and on calls.
4. Inventory and Supplies
Order food, beverages, and other supplies
Monitor stock levels and reduce waste
Work with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries
5. Compliance and Safety
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards
Coordinate with local health departments and pass inspections
6. Marketing and Promotion
Implement marketing campaigns and promotional events
Maintain an active social media presence
Build customer loyalty programs

7. Operational Oversight
Supervise day-to-day operations of the restaurant
Maintain equipment and schedule repairs when needed
