Project Manager\xe2\x80\x93Waste management \xe2\x80\x93 Basra, Iraq

We are seeking an individual who can lead the delivery of waste management services to one of our key clients in Iraq. The individual will also act as the primary contact for our waste management service line and drive forward business development in the sector through existing networks and new relationships.

The key responsibilities will include:
  • Act as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during the program execution and manage the day to day waste management operations in line with the contract requirements and client expectations
  • Establish the waste management program requirements for all areas of the project, and monitor the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria
  • Oversee the establishment and implementation of Project Execution Plan, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project
  • Act as a safety leader promoting the desired safety culture on sites at all times and the use of Stop Work Authority by all personnel
  • Facilitate the implementation and reporting of KPIs for performance management
  • Participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and in public meetings in support of the client
  • Negotiate changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with applicable national legislation, regulations and guidelines in Iraq
  • Secure additional work with client
  • Provide a technical advisory service regarding waste diversion, recovery and disposal standards and services
  • Research latest market technologies to inform RSKs Waste Management strategy and operations
The successful candidate will have:
  • Relevant Degree in Waste Management, Environmental Engineering/Science or related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of waste management industry standards essential; familiarity with Middle East regional regulatory requirements desirable
  • At least 10 years of experience in the implementation of similar assignments in a waste management service provision and/or consultancy
  • Minimum of Chartered Institute of Waste Management WAMITAB Level 3 Diploma for Waste Supervisor or equivalent
  • Experience in recycling activities and disposal technologies/waste treatment
  • Must have the ability to manage projects, interface with clients and enjoy being hands on technically in the project
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability in consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution in order to influence change and maintain relationship within and external to the organisation
  • Demonstrated contract and people management skills that can positively contribute to the development, growth and maintenance of the Waste Management service line
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

  • This is a full-time rotational post (4 weeks in country: 4 weeks off) with a salary commensurate with experience.
