As the Programme Director you will lead a team of 20+ direct internal reports taking a true and accurate account to ensure the strategic development direction, planning, control and implementation of key delivery milestones are being met. There will be approximately 20 live concurrent and individually unique projects ongoing at any one time at all project life cycle stages to deliver this programme, some of which may require early/enabling works, or a package management approach. A candidate with a strong acumen to set-up a PMO and being able to integrate delivery and management of various Consultants and Contractors and reporting to our key client will be the key to success. Drive delivery – The candidate must be able to demonstrate deep local delivery experience in leading, aligning and resolving design/procurement/construction challenges, setting strategy, working flexibly and responding to changing Client requirements and managing a wide network of internal and external stakeholders. The candidate shall have experiencing working across projects involving all types of Master Planning, Infrastructure and unique development assets, their permitting and integration into an overall district. Client focus – Keeping on top of ad-hoc client requirements and meeting, proactive representation and driving of the Programme, strategic programme delivery management and risk mitigation, responding promptly to achieve time-bound key performance indicators, attending fortnightly meetings. Organised – Must be able to keep track of 20+ projects all running at different stages and meet with stakeholders and ensure weekly and monthly deadlines are being achieved and reported on. Must be able to demonstrate deployment and use of software/technologies to assist to manage PMO reporting and prioritisation. Sets high standards – Managing 20+ internal team members to undertake the day-to-day delivery of the service provided at project level, ensuring alignment and integration into the overall programme at a fast pace, high quality and integration of all stakeholders. Attention to detail – Diligent checking of 20+ weekly and monthly reports, saving of relevant correspondence, updating trackers etc. Contracts - Must be able to demonstrate having worked within and familiar with various Contractual mechanisms and responsibilities delivering traditional, D+B and 2-stage tendering projects. Experience in setting up and implementation of change management, claims and EoT mitigation are essential. Good communicator – Needs to be able to ensure that all internal and external stakeholders are aware of status, issues, challenges and solutions being executed, being able to align stakeholders to achieve overall programme milestones and sequencing of key delivery activities. Resource planning – Able to consider future team resourcing requirements and to negotiate additional resource for the programme, change management and invoicing/payments. Enthusiastic leadership – A credible leader, able to demonstrate energy and persistence to motivate the team and internal and external stakeholders. A person who can grow and develop the team and develop the skill-set of individuals, the organisational capabilities and be passionate about development of individuals. Financial management – Able to oversee and integrate commercial management that meet the needs of the programme to ensure alignment to Client budget. Sustainability, quality & HSE assurance – Initiate interventions as required when issues are identified, work to world-class standards and expectations. Location – The candidate should ideally be currently based in or willing to move to Abu Dhabi. The candidate will be based in an Abu Dhabi office and must be present during normal working hours. Geographical experience - Delivery experience and knowledge of Abu Dhabi authorities is highly preferred.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach to the role eager to resolve multiple concurrent challenges, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with excellent communication and good commercial results. You will have experience executing local complex and multi-facted programmes in the role as a Programme Director or a Senior Project Director that has set-up, managed and delivered programmes.
  • Project Management degree or a similar construction related qualification with extensive delivery experience in a similar role gained within a consultancy or client side;
  • Has set-up PMO systems, processes and roll-up reporting and led programme reporting to Clients.
  • Ideally MRICS, MPAM, CIOB, PMP or equivalent professional qualification but not essential
  • Detail in reporting and hitting deadlines are key in this role due to the importance and high-profile nature of the work and its impact on people’s lives
  • Ability to set strategy and integrate multiple stakeholder requirements and consultations.
  • Excellent customer service, communication and client/external interface skills
  • A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering to multiple concurrent deadlines.
