The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day factory operations for steel and aluminum fabrication (such as aluminum facades, windows, or structural steel), ensuring production targets are achieved
on time, within budget, and in line with required quality standards
. The role involves managing shop floor teams, coordinating resources, and ensuring smooth execution across aluminum, steel, and glass-related fabrication works.
This position plays a critical role in balancing
manpower, machinery, materials, and timelines
to support project delivery requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
Prepare and execute
daily, weekly, and project-based production schedules
aligned with site requirements.
Allocate manpower, machinery, and resources efficiently to meet production targets.
Coordinate closely with site, design, and procurement teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.
Factory Operations & Supervision
Supervise factory floor operations including
cutting, fabrication, welding, assembly, and finishing
for steel and aluminum works.
Lead and manage foremen, fabricators, machine operators, and helpers to maintain productivity and discipline.
Monitor fabrication accuracy against
approved shop drawings
and specifications.
Quality Control & Standards
Ensure all fabricated items meet
Steel District quality standards
, approved drawings, and client specifications.
Enforce proper fabrication methods, tolerances, and finishing standards, particularly for aluminum and architectural steel works.
Identify quality issues early and implement corrective actions.
Material & Resource Management
Coordinate with procurement for raw materials, profiles, glass, and accessories.
Monitor material usage and stock levels to
minimize wastage and rework
.
Ensure tools, machines, and equipment are properly maintained and operational.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
Enforce strict adherence to
HSE policies
, including PPE usage and safe work practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe factory environment at all times.
Reporting & Problem Solving
Prepare
daily and weekly production progress reports
for management.
Track key production KPIs such as output, efficiency, rework, and delays.
Proactively resolve production issues including manpower shortages, machine breakdowns, and material delays.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum
5-10 years
experience in steel and/or aluminum fabrication factories, with hands-on shop floor management experience.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes including cutting, bending, welding, drilling, and assembly. Experience with
aluminum systems and architectural steel
is a strong advantage.
Leadership Skills:
Proven ability to lead factory teams and deliver results under tight project timelines.
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in
Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering
(preferred but not mandatory for strong hands-on profiles).
Software & Tools:
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings; familiarity with ERP systems and basic CAD viewing tools is an advantage.
