The Principal Survey Specialist interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex Survey (Mar) -related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. The Principal Survey Specialist may be responsible for leading functional teams or projects and is regarded as a specialist in Survey (Mar). As such, they must have in-depth expertise in Survey (Mar) as well as broad knowledge of the Survey (Mar) discipline within the Marine function.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Survey sub-contract evaluations
Bid support on offshore and onshore survey
Monitor closely all ongoing survey operations
Coordinate and support project management and Operations
Identify project requirements for survey services
Prepare and maintain survey service orders
Review and approve survey invoices and timesheets
Identify and review the latest available technology as applicable
To be based at worksite based on project requirements, onshore and/or offshore
Essential Qualifications and Education
Bachelor's or Masters in Land and Hydrography Survey, Marine Sciences, Geomatics, GIS, Ocean Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 9 years of experience in Offshore Survey with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects
Strong knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and guidelines e.g., IMCA and/or International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards, Marine Spatial Planning (MSP), and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices
Proven expertise in leading and executing various marine and land survey methodologies, such as hydrographic, geophysical, and subsea positioning
Strong understanding of relevant marine and land survey equipment (shallow and deepwater solutions), software, and technologies, including single/multibeam echo sounders, geophysical equipment, survey sensors, and GPS/GNSS receivers
Proficient in managing survey data processing and visualization software such as QINSY, CARIS, EIVA, and ArcGIS
Well-versed in Cartography and Geodesy for marine and land projects
Extensive knowledge of industry standards and best practices, including IHO S-44, ISO 9001, and relevant classification society rules
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex survey data to drive informed decision-making
Strong project management abilities, ensuring survey activities are completed within budget, schedule, and quality requirements
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders
Professional certifications (e.g., CMarSci, FIG/IHO/ICA Category A Hydrographer) will be considered advantageous
