JOB PURPOSE

As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Research Institute of Sciences and Engineering (RISE), you will be part of the Pure & Applied Chemistry Research Group, contributing to innovative research in the field of synthesis and catalysis. You are expected to hold a PhD degree from a reputable university and demonstrate a strong academic background in Organometallic or Coordination Chemistry, with particular expertise in ligand design and organic synthesis. You will be responsible for synthesizing and characterizing novel compounds using techniques such as FTIR, TGA, NMR, UV/Vis, SEM, TEM, XAFS, and ICP-OES. Furthermore, you will study these materials in the context of heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis--including but not limited to C-C and C-N coupling reactions, oxidation and reduction processes--as well as small molecule activation such as CO? reduction to fuels, CO? conversion to value-added products, and N? conversion to ammonia or related compounds. Your role will be essential in advancing research that addresses key challenges in sustainable chemistry and catalysis.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

Follow all University of Sharjah policies & regulations for safe working procedures? Work independently, but in close cooperation and consultation with the Pure & Applied Chemistry Research group coordinator and members. Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures. Develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols. Act as a research team leader, who is responsible for other projects and MSc students.
Work with other team members in the group who conduct multidisciplinary research.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Experience in handling and analysis of spectroscopic data (NMR, UV/VIS/, GC/MS, FIIR, etc.). Experience in material characterization (SEM/TEM, XRD, XPS, Raman, AFM). Experience in mechanisms and kinetic studies using a variety of analytical techniques.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

Track record of publications in peer-reviewed international journals related to chemistry. Design and execute experiments to synthesize and characterize new catalysts and organic compounds. Develop sustainable catalysts for various organic synthesis, preparing value added products and green materials. Educational background in synthetic chemistry, or Inorganic/organometallic area. Experience in handling and analysis of spectroscopic data (NMR, UV/VIS/, GC/MS, FIIR, etc.). Experience in material characterization (SEM/TEM, XRD, XPS, Raman, AFM). Experience in mechanisms and kinetic studies using a variety of analytical techniques.
Strong record in writing and publishing in scientific journal.
