POMEC (Engineering / Maintenance)
Often called Property Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Conservation (POMEC), this department is responsible for the entire hotel's physical plant, ensuring all facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
Key Positions: Chief Engineer, Maintenance Technician, HVAC Technician, Plumber, Electrician, Groundskeeper.
Overall Department Goal: To maintain the hotel's infrastructure, equipment, and amenities in optimal condition, ensuring guest safety, comfort, and operational efficiency.
Detailed Responsibilities:

• Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance programs for all mechanical systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), guest rooms, and public areas to prevent breakdowns.
• Repairs & Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to repair requests from guests and other departments (e.g., malfunctioning AC, leaking faucets, broken furniture).
• Facility Upkeep: Maintain the exterior of the property, including landscaping, parking lots, and building exteriors.
• Life Safety Systems: Ensure all life safety systems (fire alarms, sprinklers, emergency power) are fully operational and inspected regularly. Conduct safety training for other departments.
• Energy & Water Conservation: Implement and monitor programs to reduce the hotel's energy and water consumption.
• Swimming Pool Maintenance: Maintain proper chemical balance and cleanliness of the pool and surrounding area.
• Project Management: Oversee minor renovation projects and coordinate with external contractors for major work.
