Pedia Ward Charge Nurse
Job Summary:
The Pedia Ward Charge Nurse is a senior nurse who oversees the clinical and administrative operations of the pediatric ward during a shift. This leadership role involves supervising staff, ensuring quality patient care, managing resources, and serving as a clinical resource and role model.
Key Responsibilities:

• Shift Management: Assign patient loads to staff nurses based on acuity and nurse competency. Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Clinical Supervision: Provide guidance, support, and supervision to nursing staff, including RNs and Nursing Assistants.
• Quality & Safety: Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical standards, and DHA regulations. Conduct audits and lead quality improvement initiatives.
• Resource Management: Manage bed occupancy, equipment, and supplies for the ward.
• Complex Case Handling: Serve as an escalation point for complex clinical situations and difficult patient/family interactions.
• Staff Development: Mentor and coach junior staff, facilitate bedside training, and assist with performance evaluations.
• Communication Liaison: Act as the primary communication link between staff, physicians, management, and other hospital departments.
• Direct Patient Care: May take on a partial patient load or the most complex cases.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; a post-graduate diploma in nursing management or pediatrics is an advantage.
• Valid DHA license.
• Minimum of 4-5 years of pediatric nursing experience, with at least 1-2 years in a senior or charge nurse role.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Certifications in BLS and PALS are essential.
