MEP Quantity Surveyor (MEP QS)

Role Overview

The MEP Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost planning, quantity take-offs, tendering, contract administration, and financial control of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works for building projects. The role requires strong consultancy-side experience and familiarity with UAE construction practices and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Contract & Tendering



Prepare detailed MEP cost estimates, BOQs, and cost plans based on drawings and specifications. Conduct quantity take-offs for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems. Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify risks and cost implications. Assist in tender evaluations, technical and commercial comparisons, and recommendations. Support value engineering exercises and cost optimization proposals.

Post-Contract & Cost Control



Monitor and control MEP project costs throughout the project lifecycle. Review and certify contractors' interim payment applications. Evaluate variations, claims, and change orders related to MEP works. Prepare variation orders, cost impact assessments, and final accounts. Maintain accurate cost records and financial reports.

Contract Administration



Ensure compliance with contract conditions (FIDIC preferred). Coordinate with design, site, and project management teams on cost-related matters. Support dispute resolution, claims assessment, and negotiations when required.

Coordination & Reporting



Liaise with MEP engineers, architects, contractors, and clients. Prepare regular cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial summaries. Ensure adherence to consultancy procedures, quality standards, and client requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline. Minimum

5+ years of experience

as an MEP Quantity Surveyor.

Mandatory consultancy experience

in building projects within the UAE. Strong knowledge of MEP systems, materials, specifications, and installation practices. Good working knowledge of

FIDIC contracts

and UAE construction standards. Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with cost management software is an advantage. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills

Experience with high-rise, residential, commercial, or mixed-use building projects. Familiarity with authority requirements in Abu Dhabi. Knowledge of value engineering and cost benchmarking.
