Prepare accurate and detailed mechanical cost estimates including material take-offs, labour analysis, equipment, and subcontractor packages.
Review and evaluate project tender documents, specifications, drawings, and BOQs to identify project requirements and potential risks.
Develop build-up rates based on historical data, supplier/subcontractor quotations.
Identify and propose value engineering options and cost-saving opportunities during the tendering stage.
Perform cost comparisons between different systems, materials, and subcontractors.
Manage and maintain a database of unit rates, material costs, labour productivity, and supplier/subcontractor quotations for benchmarking and future use.
Participate in tender clarification meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractors when required.
Prepare commercial tender submissions including pricing documents, assumptions, and exclusions.
Support post-tender negotiations and provide input for budget preparation.
Stay updated on market trends, cost fluctuations, and innovative mechanical solutions.
Coordinate with procurement and engineering teams to ensure alignment between estimated cost and actual procurement strategy.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
7-10 years of proven experience in mechanical estimation within the construction industry, preferably with exposure to high-rise residential, commercial, and hospitality projects in the GCC.
In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and associated mechanical systems, including their design standards and installation methods.
Strong understanding of local market rates, codes, and authority requirements (e.g., DEWA, DCD, Dubai Municipality).
Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Proficiency in estimation and quantity take-off software such as
PlanSwift and CCS Candy.
Experience in preparing technical and commercial clarifications.
Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams under pressure and tight deadlines.
Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel for cost modelling and pricing sheets.
