Job Description

The MEP Designer is responsible for preparing detailed design drawings and layouts for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems under the supervision of MEP Engineers. The role supports the development of coordinated MEP design documents using AutoCAD and/or Revit, ensuring compliance with local codes, engineering standards, and project requirements. The designer works closely with engineers, architects, and other design professionals to ensure accurate and buildable designs.

JOB LOCATION - FUJAIRAH, UAE

QUALIFICATIONS:

Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering. Certification in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP is preferred. Familiarity with UAE authority requirements (e.g., DEWA, DM, ADDC, Civil Defense). Vocational training in MEP drafting/design is an advantage.

EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years of experience as a MEP Designer in building services design within the UAE or GCC. Experience in preparing HVAC, plumbing, drainage, electrical, and fire protection drawings. Prior experience with design coordination and BIM modeling is desirable. Experience in preparing design drawings for submission to UAE authorities is a plus.

KEY SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

Mechanical (HVAC)

Proficient in preparing HVAC layout drawings including ductwork, equipment locations, and ventilation systems. Basic understanding of HVAC design principles and ASHRAE standards. Familiarity with psychrometric charts, load calculations (using HAP or similar), and airflow design. Ability to coordinate HVAC layouts with architectural and structural plans.

Plumbing & Drainage

Knowledge of water supply, drainage, and sewage systems. Experience in preparing plumbing and drainage schematics and layouts. Familiarity with local codes for water supply and sanitation (e.g., Dubai Municipality guidelines). Understanding of hot/cold water distribution, water tank sizing, and pump arrangements.

Fire Protection

Ability to prepare fire sprinkler and firefighting piping layout drawings. Familiarity with NFPA standards and UAE Civil Defense requirements. Understanding of fire pump room layouts, fire hose reel placements, and riser diagrams. Coordination of fire systems with architectural elements and other MEP services.

Electrical

Experience in drafting electrical layouts including lighting, power, and low-current systems. Basic understanding of load schedules, single-line diagrams, and cable routing. Familiarity with DEWA regulations and submission requirements. Knowledge of lighting calculations (e.g., Dialux) is a plus.

General / BIM & Coordination

Proficient in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit MEP for 3D coordination. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings. Skilled in clash detection and coordination with other services. Strong attention to detail and quality control in drawing production. Good communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with engineers and design teams. Familiarity with document control systems and project file management.
