Roles & Responsibilities

Collaborate with project managers, designers, and engineers to understand project requirements and specifications for materials. Study the project tender documents including BOQ, drawings, specifications and prepare material log. Research and evaluate materials based on design, durability, cost, and environmental impact, and recommend suitable options for specific project needs. Prepare material submittals, including technical data, performance criteria, and quality standards, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry regulations. Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain technical data sheets, product samples, and quotations. Organize materials approval meetings/selection with clients and ensure approved materials are labelled and communicated with the concerned departments. Submit materials by strictly adhering to the project program plan. Review material submittals and samples submitted by suppliers, ensuring compliance with specified requirements and budget constraints. Coordinate with procurement team for supplier sources and sharing the material approvals for procuring purpose. Provide technical support to project teams and address any material-related issues or concerns during the construction phase. Maintain organized records of material specifications, approvals, and documentation for reference and audit purposes. Attend allotted project internal/external meetings. Strong understanding of material properties relevant to interiors such as wood, metal, glass, stone, fabrics, laminates, and composite materials. Proficient in reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Familiarity with local and international standards related to building materials, fire safety, sustainability, and quality. Capable of preparing technical submittals, data sheets, and material compliance documentation. Knowledge of testing procedures for durability, performance, and safety of materials.
