ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops and implements production policies and procedures
• Delegates manufacturing tasks so that team can meet production deadlines
• Safe and efficient running of the workshop.
• Planning and monitoring of jobs in shifts.
• Co-ordinating with GM for job priorities .
• Liaise with Purchase and Logistics if necessary
• Studying works orders, engineering drawings, materials, and specifications
• Able to use micrometer , Vernier and other gauges as and when required
• Setting and operating machines tools efficiently
• Machining a variety of components in different batch quantities within required standards
• Checking the quality of all parts manufactured to ensure they are within tolerance.
• Reading and interpretation of CNC programs, editing of speeds and feeds if required
• Working to tight tolerances
• Manages the efforts of manufacturing workers on the production floor
• Establishes priorities to ensure manufacturing team works most efficiently
• Centre lathe Machining a variety of components within required standards . Performing roughing and finishing operations inc basic Milling and drilling operations
• Checking finished pieces to ensure compliance with technical drawings
• Able to read micrometers imperial + metric as well as Working to tight tolerances
• Setting and operating machines tools efficiently
• Checking the quality of all parts manufactured to ensure they are within tolerance.
• Able to use and set up 4jaws and faceplates
• Checks manufacturing equipment and control points to ensure efficient workflow is maintained
• Addresses production problems as they arise
• Reports on team performance to production manager
• Implements recommended manufacturing cost reduction strategies
• Polishing and superfinishing of finished ground components - achieving specific drawing surface finishes
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure that all sections manufacture the quantities planned for daily in accordance to the Specification, use of the correct Raw Materials and within the time stipulated and Quality standards to achieve quality end product
• Ensure that all machines are operating as per the defined parameter to maximize of output and achieve efficiency
• Liaise regularly with Planning/Scheduling Department in order to optimize production run time and achieve high levels of machine efficiency
• Coordinate closely with the Technical Department to solve pending issues that are affecting the final committed schedule
• Coordinate closely with the Quality Control to ensure that all final products are tested, passed (QC OK), and released for final delivery
• Ensure that the actual Materials used and Hours worked are reported on the system to be able to study the variance (if any) and recommend modifications.
• Ensure closure of Orders in the system is completed and checked as soon as the Goods have been delivered to Final Stock. QC OK
• Receive daily updates from his superior about the daily out-put status to ensure that schedules are met.
• Receives from the superior updates of any accidents, problems, mistakes or non-conformities being faced during production to be able to trouble shoot and take appropriate measure for the future
• Make sure that preventive and corrective maintenance plans are carried out consistently to minimize breakdowns and optimize machine availability
• Ensure that all machines are operating as per the defined parameter to maximize of output and achieve efficiency
• Ensure that the factory is kept clean at all times to comply with housekeeping regulations.
• Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management procedures and controls across the production section to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.

COMPETENCY (QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, Training & SKILLS)

• Engineering Diploma

Minimum Experience:

• 6 years Production and foreman experience preferably in Oil and Gas Industry

Job-Specific Skills:

• Knowledge of the processes of production

Generic Skills:

• Good communicator
• Meticulous to detail
