As the leader for the CHB (Customs House Brokerage) & standalone trucking team, the role is accountable for delivering superior service delivery to the end customer as well as other functions within Maersk networked organization, working effectively with stakeholders (external/internal) to deliver value to the customers as well as business, transforming CHB delivery through effective adoption and promotion of e-tools/platforms, actively developing and coaching the direct reports through coaching/sparring and owning and delivering the relevant GP (Gross Profit) margins for the overall CHB and standalone Inland trucking business. The role will entail working closely with commercial and product teams to drive growth and meet customer expectations along with ensuring that our vendor service levels are constantly reviewed and pushed for even improved customer outcomes.

The role will report directly to UAE Country Execution Manager.
  • Be a force multiplier to internal and external customers/stakeholders to ensure strong delivery of customs and inland operations and compliance with regulations related to relevant CHB and Inland activities
  • Manage E2E responsibility of the assigned customers through the team (including the vendors) and work closely with Sales/Procurement/Product to bring new opportunities to life
  • Be a role model for HSSE and compliance requirements for our CHB and Inland activities (towards our customers through our vendors).
  • Ensure team deliver timely and accurate completion of all Import & Export declarations and Transit Movements.
  • Ensure team deliver timely and accurate execution of all financial activities relevant to CHB.
  • Ensure all Customer needs are met or exceeded, within our Compliance Controls.
  • Responsible for monitoring and load balancing workload, highlighting any risk to execution lead.
  • Own and act to keep the FINOPS hygiene for our activity level job costing as well as overall invoicing, workflows, Unbilled SOs, Open POs and correct GP reporting through the direct reports.
  • Collate, analyse and present data reports to Management, Customer, Internal Stakeholders, Compliance and Implementation Teams.
  • To ensure all Operating Manuals are reviewed regularly and updated where required.
  • Ensure that work carried out complies with standard as defined in the operating Manuals.
  • To ensure the Quality Assurance Procedures are up to date and clearly reflect current working practices. (ISO/SQAS)
  • Ensuring that all compliance/statutory requirements are met or exceeded. (AEO or any other Customs authorisations)
  • Identify waste in processes, continuously driving and delivering improvements which will positively impact productivity (production) levels.
  • Maintain a first-class business relationship with all customers and internal stakeholders.
  • To support all growth and actively participate in creating innovative solutions.
  • Develop Customs product to expand portfolio, market footprint and generation of additional revenue.
  • Support commercial activities and campaigns.
  • Work closely with our support functions, vendor payments team, Inland process owners in Global service centers to drive continuous improvements in the way we service our customers/optimise processes.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews, set objectives and participate with the delivery of Compensation & Benefit reviews, in accordance with HR policy and support.
  • Ensure each DR has a Personal Development Plan and that is continuously updated and reviewed. Ensure regular coaching and development sessions with all team members to effectively develop the team.
  • Support and develop talent pipeline.
  • Manage all matters in respect of employee relations such as disciplinary and grievance issues in accordance with HR policy.
  • To be an active team member who will exchange knowledge and expertise.
  • In-conjunction with HR liaise with recruitment agencies or Maersk recruitment to book and hold interviews.
  • In-conjunction with Senior Customs Coordinator arrange account cover for unexpected absence.
  • Support other Areas/Regions, operationally and sharing Best Practice.
  • Responsibility for building and sustaining high engagement of the team
  • Drive and support our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) agenda.
