ROLE PURPOSE:
  • To manage the delivery of Operations Planning within the Airport Management Centre (AMC) department. The AMC is the central hub for three functions:
o Operations Planning - leading integrated operational planning and performance analysis for all ADAirports to deliver our target Levels of Service (LOS).
o Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) - Leading day-of-operations within 24/7 control room co-located with ground handler, control authorities, airlines, emergency services and others.
o Operations Data & Analytics \xe2\x80\x93 leading operational data quality management and the development of AMC reporting, analytics, and tools.
  • The job holder\xe2\x80\x99s key accountabilities include:

  • The job holder is responsible for managing the implementation of operational plans, actioning the recommendations of performance analysis, and managing operational improvement projects such as Capacity Enhancements, Operational Readiness, Digital Process Improvements etc.
  • The job holder is responsible for instilling Abu Dhabi Airports values and behaviours with their team.
  • Initially the focus shall be Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) operations and the preparation for the transition to the Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC). In future, this scope will extend to other ADAirports.
  • The job holder shall be based in the AMC working normal office working hours.
  • The nature of this role will require working outside \'\'normal office hours\'\' and in an operational environment from time to time to improve one\xe2\x80\x99s understanding of the operation. The role might involve availability on call on roster basis to respond to events.

KEY ACCCOUNTABILITIES
Airline Scheduling & Demand Forecasting (In-Season)
  • Coordinate the delivery of integrated operational plans for the current schedule and the next declared IATA season, up to the plan handover to the AOCC (typically -72 hours before day of ops).
  • Manage the review and approvals of in-season schedule changes to ensure capacity is managed within limits and level of service standards maintained.
  • Responsible for the analysis of potential changes to the capacity declaration in coordination with capacity planning teams.
Airport Fixed Resource Management
  • Manage the analysis and continuous improvement of operational planning rulesets for Resource Management Systems e.g. Check-In, Stands, Gates, Baggage Reclaim belts etc.
  • Responsible for operational planning ruleset documentation and Fixed Resource Management System (e.g. SITA AMS) ruleset configurations within an agreed change control process as per ADAIRPORTS governance.
  • Develop new operational approaches including dynamic models, dashboards and trends to monitor and manage the operation on the day and make best use of assets and resources.
  • Develop models to predict the impact of a deviation from plan and identify the most effective actions to take in typical disruption scenarios
Operations Performance Analysis & Reporting
  • Manage operational performance analysis (plan-do-review) activities within current schedule.
  • Establish systems and processes to enable a common focus on punctuality, process efficiency, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that data integrity and confidentiality (where appropriate) is maintained at all times
  • Manage simulation projects to support the operation and any impacts on it, providing an assessment of the drivers of performance and resilience.
  • Maintain an up to date data library of capacity and service measures that are to be used in simulation models Maintain and update simulation data, accurate baseline simulation models and capacity assessment models for the current year.
  • Review and analyse the core airport processes and people skillsets, identifying opportunities to improve our operation and develop our people
Stakeholder Engagement, Collaboration and Facilitation
  • Manage multi-stakeholder operational working groups to ensure that all stakeholder priorities, preferences and issues are considered in line with the agreed Concept of Operations operating principles. This includes freedom to challenge rules from our stakeholders to show how removing or changing the rules slightly will have a positive impact to the stakeholder and/or the overall business.
  • Monitor and analyse capacity and service demands and work with internal stakeholders to protect the declared capacities, understand existing and upcoming constraints and identify mitigating actions.
  • Monitor and analyse facilities and operations to determine how best to define and improve levels of service, enhance operations, accommodate demand and best serve the needs of the airport and stakeholders.

  • Monitor and analyse disruption events to identify areas of improvement and make detailed recommendations to enhance operational capabilities (people, process, systems, facilities) to avoid disruption and recover faster
  • Analyse the impact of the various development programmes on the airports\xe2\x80\x99 ability to accommodate the forecasted demand. Support the development of appropriate mitigations, ensuring that operational resilience is maintained and service levels optimised, but that expedient delivery is promoted.
  • Operations Planning Tools User Requirements, Acceptance Testing and Process Adoption
  • Support with implementation of operational planning, process or tools changes within AMC and with internal/external stakeholders.
QUALIFICATION / EDUCATION
  • The job holder will ideally be educated to degree in a related field (e.g. Operational Research). Operational planning management experience will be considered as equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 8 years experience in a research, planning or engineering role, with a significant amount of that time in the aviation sector.
  • Relevant industry experience in a quantitative analysis or operational research role in ideally an Airport, Airline, Ground Handling or ANSP organisation including developing and using simulation models and/or resource management systems.
  • Ideally some experience in stand planning.
