Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Commis Baker with hands-on expertise in preparing artisan breads, croissants, and other laminated dough products. The role involves assisting in daily production while ensuring product quality and consistency, following standard recipes and bakery procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and bake a variety of breads including sourdough, baguettes, buns, and specialty loaves.
Assist in preparing laminated doughs and baking croissants, Danish pastries, and puff pastry items.
Follow recipes accurately and ensure consistent product quality and presentation.
Measure, mix, shape, and proof dough according to specific formulas and timelines.
Operate baking equipment including ovens, mixers, sheeters, and proofers.
Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and equipment in compliance with food safety standards.
Monitor baking times and oven temperatures to produce perfectly baked items.
Assist with inventory control and proper storage of ingredients.
Communicate any issues with dough, equipment, or supplies to the Head Baker.
Requirements:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a professional bakery, specifically working with bread and laminated dough.
Strong understanding of fermentation, proofing, and baking techniques.
Ability to work early mornings and flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
Good physical condition; able to stand for long periods and lift heavy bags of flour or dough.
Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
