We, at GEMS International School, are looking for a qualified and experienced IT Support Specialist to join us.
The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support, managing educational technology resources, and supporting the efficient operation of IT systems at GEMS International School Al Khail. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a productive and technology-enhanced learning environment for students, teachers, and staff.
Due to the nature of the post, a genuine interest in education and the growth of young learners is essential.
Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Support
Provide timely technical support to students, staff and administrators for hardware and software issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related problems promptly.
Offer guidance on best practices for technology usage.
2. Hardware and Software Management
Manage the inventory, and maintenance of educational technology equipment, such as laptops, computers, ipads, interactive whiteboards.
Install, configure, and update software applications and educational tools.
Ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
3. Classroom Technology Integration
Work closely with educators to integrate technology into the curriculum.
Assist in selecting and implementing appropriate educational software and digital tools.
Stay updated with emerging educational technology trends and tools.
4. Data Security and Privacy
Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive student and staff information.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations
5. Policy Development
Contribute to the development and enforcement of technology-related policies and guidelines.
Stay informed about changes in relevant regulations and standards.
6. Collaboration
Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to align technology initiatives with educational goals.
Foster a culture of technology innovation and integration.
7 Feedback and Evaluation
Gather feedback from end-users to continually improve IT services and support.
Evaluate the effectiveness of technology solutions and recommend improvements.
Qualifications, Experience and skills required
Bachelor\'s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education Technology, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, preferably in an educational context
Previous experience in IT support or educational technology roles
Preferred.Experience of MacOs and hardware desirable
Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of educational software and learning management systems.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Certifications in relevant IT areas (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco ,Comptia ) is an advantage
