Job Description

The marketing manager is responsible for managing the entire marketing department. The team will be responsible in support with the firm?s business development and communications professionals in a variety of efforts. On the business development side, this includes generating early drafts of pitch materials, presentations, proposal outlines and other materials as and when needed. Along with assisting with research and competitive intelligence requests, event coordination and other business development-related needs. On the communications side, this includes supporting external relations and digital marketing efforts in promoting the firm, practices and lawyers, from message generation and content maintenance to performance tracking. This is a multi-faceted position that requires skill across the legal marketing spectrum, adept project coordination and strong capabilities as a writer and editor across multiple platforms. Primary Responsibilities Strategic Planning
  • ? Provide strategic direction with regard to all marketing, business development and communications activities.
  • ? Develop, define and disseminate clear positioning and messaging for the firm.
  • ? Develop the marketing and business development components of the firm?s annual business plan.
  • ? Actively develop and maintain a deep understanding of the legal market and the competitive position of the firm through extensive internal and external research.
  • ? Monitor, analyse and communicate market, industry and competitive trends for the firm.
Profile Raising
  • ? Research, strategize, and negotiate representation at PR opportunities to raise the firm's profile including membership organisations, events, and conferences.
  • ? Collaborate with the management team and other lawyers to market the services and expertise of the firm through the development and deployment of thought leadership content and other profile-raising activities.
  • ? Oversee and conduct a final review of draft press releases, pitch story ideas, track published articles and consider social media strategy around key projects.
  • Conduct a final review for the firm?s awards and league table rankings, including oversight of submission to Chambers Global, Legal 500 and other high-profile publications. Be able to articulate key messages for directory submissions and share best practices in the submissions process.
Marketing & Communications
  • ? Ensure the team is constantly maintaining a database of current and target clients and contacts;
  • ? Lead the review and continuous improvement of the firm?s suite of marketing materials, including capabilities statements, pitch templates (RFP), presentations, proposals, website content (internal and external) and press releases.
  • ? Ensure the team is able to review and edit content for the firm?s website and intranet.
  • ? Drive internal communications across the firm, to assist in building a cohesive and well informed brand.
  • ? Oversee the team are maintaining and updating marketing media, including social media, and expand marketing approach as needed.
  • ? Oversee and review the CRM system on a regular basis.
  • Review and conduct a spot check to ensure all employee biographies are up to date at all times.
Leadership skills
  • ? Manage the flow of day-to-day operations.
  • ? Delegate tasks? and set clear and realistic deadlines.
  • ? Monitor team members' participation to ensure the training they are being provided is being put into use, and also to see if any additional training is needed.
  • ? Discover training needs and provide coaching.
  • Listen to team members? feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts.
Event Management
  • ? Oversee and manage the team in scheduling, organizing and coordinating various external & internal events: meetings, client visits, conferences, seminars and other events.
  • ? Ensure to work with customers, vendors and suppliers to facilitate events.
  • ? Coordinate with the management team to determine costs and time requirements for each event.
  • ? Ensure to track event costs and periodically report to the management team. Act as liaison and point of contact for all event logistics
Business Development
  • ? Undertake the business development initiatives
  • ? Heading and lunching implementation of new business development systems
  • ? Setting goals for the business development and developing strategies to meet these goals
