Job Description

Hartland International School is looking to appoint an exceptional Head of Art to lead this subject across the whole school and help drive the expansion of the Secondary curriculum. Our School The school which opened in September 2015, has already established a reputation for excellence in learning, teaching and leadership in the region. Our student body consists of just over 1,400 students from nearly 90 nationalities, making Hartland a truly international community where a strong blend of academic challenge, enrichment opportunities and pastoral support for all, targets and inspires excellence. All that we do is underpinned by a values-based family community of teachers, children and parents providing the best possible education for every child in our care. This academic year sees our first cohort of Year 13 students come through the school and GCSE results this summer saw 22% of all grades being judged at Grade 9, A*, with 67% judged 9 \xe2\x80\x93 7, A*/A and 86% graded 9 - 6, A*-B. The Post Applications are invited from teachers who are outstanding practitioners and are passionate and forward thinking and who will thrive in a vibrant learning environment, helping us build a successful Art programme. The successful candidate will be required to show leadership in securing standards of excellence in teaching and learning and will have the necessary skills needed to devise a curriculum which will stimulate and motivate students to achieve. There is a very strong enrichment programme at the school and the successful candidate will be expected to make a contribution to this, joining a committed and exceptional staff group. The school is currently offering Edexcel GCSE and A-Level. As a member of the Hartland team, you will share in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment and pastoral care and will be someone who can thrive on the challenge of growing a new school and community. The successful candidate will:
  • Hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification
  • Have experience of teaching the National Curriculum for England or IB either in the UK or in an international setting, with exceptional evidence of examination outcomes for students at GCSE and A-Level/ or at IB Diploma level.
  • Have a minimum 5 years teaching experience
  • Have exceptional communication skills
  • Be committed to the Hartland Values
  • Be able to provide a portfolio of work and student outcomes
