The Vice-Chancellor will be a passionate supporter and inspirational advocate for the University, leading colleagues in delivering transformational education, a high-quality student experience, and internationally recognized applied research. The VC will implement the change agenda across academic colleges and professional services. The nation's flagship higher education institution, UAEU aims to be the national hub in areas of strategic significance to the country and region by conducting cutting-edge research in science, the arts, and humanities. Under the governance of the University Council, the University has commenced a comprehensive transformation program to equip future generations with the new tools, knowledge, and skills necessary to succeed in a developing economy. Founded in 1976, UAEU is the country's first and largest academic institution. The main campus is located in the city of Al Ain, the second-largest city in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. A comprehensive institution of teaching and research, the University enrolls 14,000 students from 74 countries. Graduate and undergraduate programs are offered through nine internationally accredited colleges: Business & Economics, Education, Engineering, Food & Agriculture, Humanities & Social Science, Information Technology, Law, Medicine & Health Sciences, and Science. The colleges are hosted on a modern new campus with superb facilities and state-of-the-art technology to enable students, faculty, and staff to do their best work. Minimum Qualification At a minimum, qualifying candidates will hold a doctorate in a field represented among the University's academic disciplines, 12-plus years experience in an academic environment or equivalent, at least five years in senior leadership managing a large staff and complex budgets, and a record including strategic planning, and collegial shared governance. Fluency in English is essential international experience is desirable. A competitive remuneration package is offered. The position is available from August 2020. Preferred Qualification Qualified applicants will be experienced senior leaders within higher education or an analogous organization. They will hold the highest academic qualifications coupled with significant senior executive leadership experience and be committed to achieving academic quality and excellence in the development of a student-centered University. As leaders, they will have delivered improvements to student learning and assessment and teaching quality and possess a keen understanding of how to create strong governance structures and accountable leadership teams. They will ensure the institution's financial strategies are effective in underpinning the University's ability to achieve its goals and mission. They will also be able to demonstrate their ability to build strong relationships with senior faculty, professional service leaders and federal and national governments, to create collaborative partnerships with business, and cognate organizations both regionally and internationally.
