The Graphic & Interior Design Professor is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Graphic & Interior Design, including but not limited to typography, branding, UI/UX, digital illustration, and portfolio development. Interior design, covering spatial planning, sustainability, materials, lighting, building codes, and design history The professor fosters creative growth, critical thinking, and technical skills among students while contributing to curriculum development and departmental service.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach studio and lecture courses in interior design (e.g., Space Planning, Lighting Design, CAD, Revit, Sustainable Design).
Mentor students in design projects, presentations, and portfolios.
Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and trends.
Participate in curriculum development and accreditation processes (e.g., CIDA).
Support students in career readiness and industry networking.
Serve on academic committees and contribute to university service.
Teach courses in graphic design (e.g., Typography, Digital Media, Branding, Adobe Creative Suite).
Develop course materials, assignments, and syllabi.
Guide students in portfolio creation and critique sessions.
Maintain active research and/or professional practice in graphic design.
Participate in curriculum reviews and academic advising.
Engage in departmental meetings, committees, and student recruitment events.
Collaborate with faculty across art and design disciplines.
Qualifications:
M.Arch , MFA or Master's degree in Graphic Interior Design or related field (PhD preferred for some institutions).
Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field (PhD or terminal degree preferred).
NCIDQ certification or eligibility is often required or preferred.
