THE OPPORTUNITY


We are the exclusive recruiter for this opportunity. Our client develops, markets, and sells a wide-range of over-the-counter consumer health products and prescription medicines globally. WIth its recent expansion to the Middle East, they are looking to hire an entrepreneurial legal counsel to be based in Dubai. This is an expansion role, and reports directly to the Deputy General Counsel for Eurasaia. Occasional business travel may be required. Key Responsibilities Provide sound, efficient and effective legal services and advice to the business functions in the Middle East and South Africa, including:
  • Serving on the regional leadership teams as trusted advisor and legal partner.
  • Providing strategic and timely legal advice to internal clients on a wide range of legal issues (including intellectual property, privacy, consumer & competition and employment law issues) and driving important initiatives.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts.
  • Analysing and mitigating legal risks for the business, including compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Managing disputes including the managing of external counsel.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to develop and implement policies and procedures.
  • Providing training and guidance to the internal team on legal and compliance matters.
  • Advising the business on changes in relevant laws and regulations and the potential impacts and necessary actions.
  • Reviewing promotional materials and events/sponsorship requests for compliance with applicable laws and codes.
  • Supporting BD and M&A transactions.
  • Managing the Compliance program to ensure compliance with anti-corruption laws, internal policies, industry regulations and codes.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree or above in Law (essential).
  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 6 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience gained in-house or in a reputable firm (essential).
  • Work experience in the ME and/or African region and familiarity with the regulatory environment in the ME (essential).
  • Arabic language skills (desirable).
  • Experience in pharmaceutical and/or consumer health industry and/or FMCG (essential).
  • Sound knowledge of anti-bribery and corruption laws and industry codes (desirable).
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced and lean organisation and to deliver support where needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
