Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP, and will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a solid grasp of financial concepts to support our organization's financial health.

Duties

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Conduct account reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely payments and collections. Perform journal entries and maintain accurate records of all financial transactions. Prepare financial reports for management, including cash flow analysis and budget forecasting. Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and ensure compliance with relevant laws, including securities law and tax regulations. Conduct audits to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and adherence to internal controls. Mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices in corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, and governmental accounting. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for efficient financial management. Analyze financial data to support decision-making processes within the organization.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. Experience with double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and technical accounting principles. Familiarity with financial report writing and interpretation. Ability to perform complex financial analysis including account analysis and cash flow analysis. Knowledge of payroll processing and auditing practices is preferred. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members across departments.
