General Accountant

Job Description

The General Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the company's daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance in accordance with UAE regulations and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This role involves preparing accurate financial statements, maintaining accounting controls, supporting audits, and ensuring all statutory requirements -- including VAT -- are met on time. The ideal candidate will be a

Chartered Accountant (CA)

with a strong understanding of end-to-end accounting, financial management, and reporting systems.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Accounting & Reporting



Manage and maintain general ledger accounts, journal entries, and reconciliations. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow). Ensure all accounting entries are accurate, complete, and compliant with IFRS and company policies. Conduct financial analysis and present management reports highlighting key trends and variances.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting



Assist management in preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts. Monitor budget vs. actual performance and recommend corrective actions to control variances.

3. Accounts Payable & Receivable



Oversee supplier invoice processing, payments, and reconciliations. Track customer receivables, follow up on overdue payments, and manage ageing reports. Prepare supplier and customer statements and ensure all balances are updated regularly.

4. Taxation & Compliance



Ensure full compliance with

UAE VAT laws

-- including return filing, input/output VAT reconciliation, and record keeping. Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants during audits and reviews. Maintain proper documentation for statutory and regulatory purposes.

5. Banking & Treasury



Manage day-to-day banking activities including reconciliations, fund transfers, and payment scheduling. Monitor cash flow and prepare liquidity reports to support business operations. Reconcile bank statements monthly and address discrepancies promptly.

6. Audit & Internal Controls



Support internal and external audit processes by preparing required schedules and reports. Implement and strengthen internal controls to prevent errors, fraud, and non-compliance. Review and enhance accounting procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.

7. Management Support



Provide timely MIS and financial analysis to assist management in strategic decision-making. Evaluate financial performance indicators and recommend improvements to enhance profitability. Participate in process automation and ERP enhancements for better reporting.

8. Other Responsibilities



Maintain confidentiality of all financial and business data. Assist with ad-hoc financial projects and assignments as directed by management. Stay updated on UAE accounting, VAT, and regulatory changes.

Qualifications & Skill Set



Education:

Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is

mandatory

Experience:

Minimum

1-5 years of post-qualification experience

Technical Expertise:

Strong knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT, and local compliance laws. Hands-on experience with accounting software such as

Tally, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or SAP

.

Analytical Skills:



Excellent financial analysis, reporting, and data interpretation abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation.

Communication:



Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to communicate financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Soft Skills:



Ethical, disciplined, and organized approach to work. Problem-solving attitude with strong time management skills.
