Job Description

Job Summary:
The General Accountant is responsible for managing the hotel's financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in accounting records, and supporting the finance team in maintaining compliance with established policies. This role requires strong accounting skills, attention to detail, and prior experience in the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting & Record Keeping:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, balance sheets, and income statements.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other accounts.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for management.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable:
  • Process vendor invoices, verify approvals, and ensure timely payments.
  • Monitor guest ledger, city ledger, and group billing.
  • Follow up on outstanding receivables and resolve discrepancies.
3. Payroll & Cost Control:
  • Assist in payroll processing, including verifying timesheets and deductions.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and ensure compliance with budgets.
  • Analyze variances and report cost-saving opportunities.
4. Tax & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations (sales tax, occupancy tax, etc.).
  • Assist in preparing tax filings and audits.
  • Maintain organized records for internal and external audits.
5. Cash Management & Banking:
  • Monitor daily cash flow and prepare bank deposits.
  • Reconcile cashier reports from front office and food & beverage outlets.
  • Handle petty cash and reimbursement requests.
6. Hotel-Specific Duties:
  • Review night audit reports for accuracy.
  • Track and report on hotel KPIs (ADR, RevPAR, occupancy rates).
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting for hotel operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP) and hotel PMS (e.g., Opera, Protel).
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of hotel operations, revenue cycles, and hospitality accounting standards.
