Job Overview

We are looking for a

General Accountant

with prior experience in the

contracting and construction industries

to join our finance team. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of accounting principles, cost control, project budgeting, and financial reporting specific to contracting operations in the UAE.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

: Maintain day-to-day financial transactions including journal entries, ledgers, and reconciliations. Ensure proper documentation and accuracy of all financial records.

Project Cost Management

: Monitor and track project-related expenses and ensure alignment with approved budgets. Work closely with project managers and procurement to validate cost reports and control expenses.

Financial Reporting

: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Support external audits by providing necessary documents and reports.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

: Manage supplier invoices, payment processing, and customer invoicing. Follow up on receivables and ensure timely collections.

Bank Reconciliation

: Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.

VAT & Compliance

: Prepare VAT filings and ensure compliance with UAE financial regulations and audit requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Experience

: Minimum 4 years of accounting experience in the UAE, with at least 2 years in a

contracting company

Technical Skills

: Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, or ERP systems Strong Excel and reporting skills

Knowledge

: Familiarity with project accounting, WIP (Work in Progress), and retention accounting Working knowledge of UAE VAT laws

Language

: Fluent in English (both written and verbal)
