Job Description

A well-established company based in Dubai is looking for an Estimation Engineer (Civil) is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for civil works. The role involves analyzing project specifications, performing quantity take-offs, evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure competitive and compliant bids. The Estimation Engineer plays a crucial role in securing profitable projects by optimizing cost efficiency and maintaining alignment with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation & Tendering

Analyze tender documents, drawings, and project specifications to determine project scope and requirements.

Perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimation for all civil works.

Prepare cost breakdowns and bill of quantities (BOQ) based on industry standards and project requirements.

Develop and maintain a cost database for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.

Ensure that cost estimates are competitive, accurate, and aligned with market trends.

Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination

Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services.

Evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing, technical compliance, and contract terms.

Assist in negotiating rates and terms to achieve cost savings.

Risk Assessment & Value Engineering

Identify cost risks and opportunities within project estimates.

Provide value engineering solutions to optimize costs while maintaining quality and compliance.

Ensure adherence to project specifications, contractual terms, and industry standards.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and submit tender documentation, BOQs, and pricing proposals.

Maintain records of cost estimates, tender submissions, and project budgets.

Support post-tender clarifications and negotiations with clients and consultants.

Prepare cost variance reports and provide insights on budget compliance.

Coordination & Teamwork

Work closely with building contracting, procurement, planning, and contracts teams to ensure a well-integrated estimation process.

Assist in project handover meetings by providing cost details and bid assumptions to execution teams.

Participate in meetings with clients, consultants, and management for bid discussions.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

3-7 years of experience in cost estimation for civil works within Civil contracting or construction.

Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., CCS Candy, AutoCAD, MS Excel, Primavera, or similar tools).

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.

Strong analytical and numerical skills for accurate cost estimation.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills to coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tender deadlines.

Knowledge of local regulations, construction codes, and tendering procedures.
