Economic Policy Analyst

Job Description

Our client is one of the government councils in Abu Dhabi, that aims to increase the Emirati\'s contributions in the private sector.

The Economic Policy Analyst is expected to work under the overall guidance of Innovation, Research and Studies Manager to conduct analysis of economic data and trends while providing key economic policy reports pertaining to the Emiratization agenda.

S/he will focus on extending support in identifying global and regional critical policy areas for council to take further, specifically translating data findings into actionable insights and recommendations. S/he is responsible for contributing to report development and facilitating economic research initiatives with key partners.

Responsibilities:
  • Create essential reports that offer insights and direction for the broader system, with a focus on enhancing economic growth and the employment status of the Emirati workforce.
  • Contribute to the execution of precise and focused research for economic policy.
  • Aid in producing reports that facilitate workforce planning and the connection between education strategies and economic alignment efforts.
  • Assist senior leadership by preparing reports and conducting socio-economic impact assessments related to broader economic reform, education, and immigration initiatives. This includes evaluating the effects of measures such as income taxes, incentives, increased localization scores for Emiratization, and points-based systems for banking and insurance.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership in publishing regular reports that outline the overall outcomes of programs aimed at Emiratization, such as the Nafis programs. Extract and present best practices from these reports.
  • Contribute to policy advice and aid the council by conducting policy-oriented research and analysis in the realm of labor market expansion, projections of supply and demand, and other
critical concerns. * Assist partners in developing specific research / studies to guide the Emiratization competitiveness ecosystem
  • Conduct benchmarking and communicate with key international / regional entities with similar mandate to share ideas / innovation that can be customised for UAE market
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders including but not limited to MoHRE and sector custodians
to validate and ensure single-source of truth for the Emiratization agenda for UAE

Communications / Relations:

Internal
  • Daily interaction with team members
  • Interaction with the council\'s senior leadership, as and when required
External
  • Interact with Federal and Local entities as well as private sector firms to discuss issues and exchange feedback and knowledge
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of bachelor degree in economics, labour studies, public policy or any other related field, preferably with a relevant postgraduate degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in Economics, Labour Market Analysis, Social Sector Policies, Employment Creation and Labour Market Indicators
  • Ability to compile, analyse, and report data to explain economic phenomena and forecast labour market trends
  • Ability to use innovative data analytics and data gathering methodologies
  • Strong international and regional knowledge is desirable, especially regarding the Middle East
  • Must have the proven ability to handle complex, unstructured problems in a rigorous, analytical fashion
  • Any related certification.
