Our client is a federal program that aims to increase the Emiratis contributions in the private sector.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Economic Policy Specialist is expected to work under the overall guidance of Innovation, Research and Studies Manager to provide key economic policy insights and reports pertaining to Emiratization agenda.

S/he will focus on identifying global and regional critical policy areas for the organization to take further specifically to provide alternative perspectives that promote Emiratisation. The Specialist is responsible for contributing to report development and facilitating economic research initiatives with key partners.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Propose key reports that will provide the foresight and guidance for the overall ecosystem focusing on economic growth and overall Emirati workforce employment levels
  • Conduct high-quality targeted economic policy based research
  • Assist in the development of reports to support workforce planning and downstream education to economic alignment initiatives
  • Support senior leadership with reports, socio-economic impact assessment of broader economic reform / education / immigration programmes (e.g., income tax, incentives, localization score increase for Emiratization, points-based system for banking and insurance etc.)
  • Assist senior leadership with publication of periodic reports on the overall impact of the programmes for Emiratization and distil best-practices
  • Provide policy advice and assist on policy based research and analysis in the area of labour market growth, supply and demand projections and other high priority issues
  • Research and Benchmarking
  • Assist partners to develop specific research / studies to guide the Emiratization competitiveness ecosystem
  • Conduct benchmarking and communicate with key international / regional entities with similar mandate to share ideas / innovation that can be customised for UAE market
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders including but not limited to MoHRE and sector custodians to validate and ensure single-source of truth for the Emiratization agenda for UAE
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal
  • Daily interaction with team members
  • Interaction with senior leadership as and when required
External
  • Interact with Federal and Local entities as well as private sector firms to discuss issues, exchange feedback and knowledge
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification
  • A minimum of bachelor degree in economics, labour studies, public policy or any other related field, preferably with a relevant postgraduate degree
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
  • 3-7 years of experience in Economics, Labour Market Analysis, Social Sector Policies, Employment Creation and Labour Market Indicators
  • Ability to compile, analyse, and report data to explain economic phenomena and forecast labour market trends
  • Ability to use innovative data analytics and data gathering methodologies
  • Ability to design, develop and appraise policy interventions and run multi-criteria analysis for policy prioritisation
  • Strong international or regional knowledge is desirable, especially regarding the Middle East
  • Must have the proven ability to handle complex, unstructured problems in a rigorous, analytical fashion
