Director of Business Development Grade: GG15 Location: Riyadh An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Saudi Maintenance and Supply Chain Management Company (SMSCMC), a BAE Systems majority owned joint venture Company as a Director of Business Winning. The successful individual will be working for a company at the forefront of BAE Systems' commitment to industrialise the supply chain in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is expected that the job holder will have a comprehensive understanding of current and future markets/opportunities for SMSCMC and will develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and prospective customers Working across the SMSCMC Organisation along with cross Functional Teams will offer a great and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the development and growth of SMSCMC in KSA.

Job Purpose Reporting into the CEO and leading a small team, the Director of Business Development will be responsible for development and implementation of the company's strategy for business growth. The job holder and his team will have a comprehensive understanding of current and future markets/opportunities for SMSCMC and will develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and prospective customers Key to this is the requirement to establish and develop the business development team ensuring it has the skills, capabilities, competences and experience required to grow the business across a number of diverse market sectors. A critical element of the role will be the effective implementation and maintenance of a Business Winning Regime, which meets the shareholders requirement to grow the company's business, including process and procedures to deliver the growth targets. The successful candidate will be charged with developing a culture of business winning throughout the company. The Director of Business Development sits on the SMSCMC Management Committee and as such has additional responsibilities as a senior leader in the Company. Accountabilities The job holder will be responsible for the management and delivery of the following: Effective management, leadership and development of a business development strategy which enables the business to: Grow in accordance with non-BAE Systems / G to G business targets; Deliver the company strategy and underlying objectives thereby satisfying customer and financial performance targets; Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and measurement criteria necessary to drive a consistent, disciplined and controlled approach to business development activities; Maintain an optimised organisational design, supporting the delivery of business development activities; Coordinate the input from and integrate supporting functions (Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance etc) ensuring business development activities are appropriately resourced at all times; Enable effective control and management of the business development through the development and implementation of appropriate control and review mechanisms; and Ensure effective communication of business development activities across the business and stakeholder community.

Recruitment Specification Essential:

SMSCMC is a multi-cultural organisation comprising circa 400 personnel split 75/25 between Saudi Arabian nationals and expatriate employees. Experience of and/or a commitment to working in such an environment is essential; Educated to bachelor degree level in a related subject, preferably Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Project Management or Business Management. Essential proven overall Business Development experience with specific experience in Marketing, Sales, Business Winning. Management of a large and complex support project with a proven record of delivering business, project performance and customer satisfaction. A broad knowledge of supply chain management in the defence sector as a minimum, ideally supplemented by experience in other sectors; Experienced in the planning and implementation of large complex projects involving multiple stakeholders; The job holder will be expected to be pragmatic and flexible in their approach to both management of people and the role. Must be comfortable working across boundaries often found in larger organisations; Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills required including the ability to motivate and inspire others at varying levels; Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with internal teams, customers, vendors and shareholders. In particular, the ability to process significant volumes of information and distil and convey key messages in a compelling, user-friendly form. This will include periodic presentations to senior stakeholders; A commitment to meeting external and internal customer expectations. Excellent behaviours under pressure and a track record of delivering consistently high quality output on time; A commitment to the development and support of others. A recognition and acceptance of the need to develop sustainable, indigenous Saudi national capability in the SMSCMC organisation; Initiative and self-motivation are critical characteristics for the role. The job-holder must be able to handle and respond positively to constructive challenge; and Enthusiasm and a desire to succeed whilst maintaining the highest personal standards. As a management committee member the job holder will be expected to set a performance and behavioural example to others. Educated to bachelor degree level in a related subject, preferably Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Project Management or Business Management. Essential proven overall Business Development experience with specific experience in Marketing, Sales, Business Winning. Management of a large and complex support project with a proven record of delivering business, project performance and customer satisfaction. Desirable: A detailed understanding of the Saudi Arabian Vision 2030, a strong commitment to industrialisation; An entrepreneurial and strategic thinker comfortable working with complexity, ambiguity, tension and flexible boundaries; A detailed understanding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Defence, and related ministries and key stakeholders, within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and methods of operation including budgeting and procurement approaches; Experience of working within a management organisation and leading a team is desirable. As a member of the SMSCMC management committee the job-holder will be expected to actively contribute to the wider management and direction of the business; and experience in any of the following areas is desirable: Knowledge of Business Development Process tools and techniques; particularly those in BAE Systems.
