JOB PURPOSE:

This role will be a leader that sets global strategy and standard process for the CL elements of Quality, Environmental, Healthy, & Safety (QEHS), BPI (Business Process Improvement0 and Security functions across global logistics services. This role will establish global common process and tools for accomplishing the required work. The role is global in scope for logistics in all regions in scope currently but will support growth of CL (and associated QEHS, BPI and Security) into new regions.

The Director of Infrastructure is responsible for the implementation, oversight and governance of hardware, firmware, cloud, network and other critical infrastructure components, depending on the Business Unit. They manage more than $30M in infrastructure spends directly and indirectly.

This role works closely with the regional IT directors, projects and planning team, software development teams, and various BU heads to be able to come up with the most cost effective and long-term infrastructure solutions world-wide. The role is also responsible for standardizing, providing and operating core operational services like monitoring and alerting, logging, DevOps pipelines etc. The role would also manage all corporate applications and tools including but not limited to the intranet portal, AFE tool, Health and Safety tool etc.

This role requires a broad level of experience of having worked on Medium to large scale ICT infrastructure projects preferably in the marine industry. The areas of expertise would include Data Centre, Network, Server, Storage, Cloud, IT and Industrial Automation and Communication infrastructure. The ideal candidate would also have the necessary soft skills and technical competencies to manage a portfolio of potentially large and complex ICT Infrastructure projects globally.

This role requires assisting in the Planning, Prioritization, Organization, Communication and Controlling of specific ICT strategy and projects that meet business plans and goals. Excellent communication skills and a dynamic personality are a must. The role requires the ability to leverage and articulate Information technology for the benefit of the business and to a non-IT audience, and to act as the communication channel between the Business and IT Supply & Delivery worldwide.

They manage a team of software developers, cloud architects, devops engineers and lend their expertise to various BUs to adopt best in class solutions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Direct and Drive ICT infrastructure projects globally to aid towards cloud migration as part of the transformation strategy and for both greenfield and brownfield, manual and automated terminals globally, with budgets up to 30M USD. Perform crisis management role for derailed projects.
  • Translate ICT requirements to civil and engineering infrastructure and create ICT roll out plans based on civil and other stakeholder dependencies.
  • Identify global vendors/partners and work with procurement to develop Master Agreements resulting in good discounts and access to priority support/delivery for our Global Business Units.
  • Form the IT team at green field terminals and mentor the new IT Managers in the understanding of the company domain, and culture.
  • Manage diverse, geographically dispersed project teams in New and Expansion Projects. Liaise with consultant companies working on the project team and manage responsibility of relations and escalated issues.
  • Lead ICT Transformation initiatives towards Cloud Migration and manage them post deployment.
  • To ensure ICT Infrastructure provides for complex security & automation requirements of operations/engineering teams in automated terminals.
  • Understand the importance of a request; evaluate, prioritize and consolidate requests thereby increasing efficiency and reducing cost.
  • Analyse business process related change and determine an appropriate way to set customer expectation and communicate the change to the customer.
  • Develop ICT Budgets by sizing projects, resource estimation and cost estimating to ensure the ICT function is delivered at minimum cost.
  • Ensure that IT service provided by technology vendors is not disrupted due to different aspects of vendor management.
  • Identify resource requirements and assign them to project and operational teams.
  • As the job requires execution of ICT deployments globally the roles require travel to various DP World Locations as needed.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

In order to give credible support to the organisation and be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s Degree in an engineering discipline
  • 20+ years of work experience in the sotware industry, with 10+ years in managing infrastructure
  • 10+ years experience in managing IT Vendors, teams and ICT Infrastructure Projects preferably in the marine transportation industry.
  • Ability to fill the gap between Civil, Engineering and IT by having knowledge in these 3 domains to drive the ICT designs for the terminal industry.
  • A broad level knowledge on ICT Infrastructure including Computer Rooms/ Data centers, Network, Server, Storage, IoT, Industrial and IT Automation, Cloud technologies like O365, Azure, Data communications and Telecommunications systems.
  • Ability to drive alignment on infrastructure strategy and large scale change management for solution deployment across various regions around the world
  • Manage large budgets of infrastructure, and be able to rationalize spend with benefit
  • Vendor Management - defining, evaluating, procuring and implementing IT Infrastructure and solutions.
  • Project Management methodology as applied to IT projects
  • Knowledge of project management tools and resource management methodology and tools
  • Ability to understand the importance of a request; evaluate, prioritize and consolidate requests thereby increasing efficiency and reducing cost.
  • The individual will need to have worked for a multinational environment and have demonstrated a keen sense of business awareness.
  • Regularly report to the CTO on progress, spend and benefit.
