Job Summary
The Information Technology Department in Zayed University seeks an incumbent for the position of Computing Services Director who will be responsible to plan, organize and direct the operations and activities of the Information Technology Department; provide and envision innovative information resources and services in support of the University\'s educational and administrative goals.

Responsibilities
  • Envision and provide the best possible, exemplary practices-based information technology resources and services in support of Zayed University\'s mission.
  • Envision and provide innovative IT resources and services in support of the University\'s educational and administrative goals that employ leading edge, exemplary practices and maximize cost/productivity.
  • Lead the development of technological approaches to academic and administrative support systems and on-going data management systems.
  • Provide technical expertise, information, and assistance to the Institution regarding assigned functions; assist as needed in the formulation and development of policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure the proactive support of students, staff, and faculty with regards to technological issues.
  • Inspire, develop, and manage the technology staff using quality service techniques in order to provide timely and accurate IT systems and services at high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; interview and select employees and recommend transfers, reassignment, termination, and disciplinary actions; plan, coordinate and arrange for appropriate training of subordinates; respond to various personnel and staff issues.
  • Attend and conduct a variety of meetings including staff, committee, and other meetings as assigned; represent the Computing Services Department on assigned committees.
  • Represent the department on the Educational Technology Standing Committee
  • Plan, organize, and implement short and long-term programs and activities designed to develop IT facilities, programs, and services.
  • Develop and prepare assigned budgets; analyze and review budgetary and financial data; control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established university policies; determine allocation of budget and staffing resources to obtain departmental goals.
  • Direct the preparation and maintenance of IT benchmarks as well as a variety of narrative and statistical reports related to assigned programs, activities, and services.
  • Communicate with other administrators, university personnel, and contractors to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts and exchange information; negotiate with vendors and contractors per university policies.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the technology aspect of the design, construction and commissioning of new campuses, buildings and other facilities
  • Liaise with an Educational Technology unit to provide advice and ensure that the technology infrastructure is in place that provides adequate resources to their efforts
  • Is accountable for smooth and efficient operation of the IT Department.
  • Deals with a broad spectrum of internal and external clients from different levels and departments.
  • Communicates with all major university administrative offices and with vendors.
  • Communicates with other Departments regarding their IT requirements.
  • Interacts with Deans, Directors, Faculty, Staff and Supervisors on a regular basis.
  • Has occasional contact with students.
  • Works with various contractors in the technology aspect of construction of new facilities.
Required Skills
  • Must possess a master\'s degree in related field from an accredited Institution with a minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in a Higher Education IT environment, including five years of management experience with a record of steady advancement in responsibility in a complex organization, preferably in higher education. Or an equivalent combination of education, skills and experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of total enterprise systems implementation in order to manage and monitor technical staff.
  • Experience in a multi-campus environment with both a centralized and partially decentralized organization structure.
  • Able to share information in an effective & collaborative manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates a spirit of service excellence
  • Demonstrates initiative to generate improvements and foster positive outcomes.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal effectiveness in the workplace.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in technical and job knowledge aspects of the position to achieve high level of performance. Able and willing to learn.
